Alexander Cornelis, aka Moodprint, took his first steps in the game in 2012. As one of the artists signed to the Tangram Records label he already received great support from the likes of Lefto, 22tracks, Soulection, Xlr8r, Nickodemus, House Shoes, Gilles Peterson and several international radio stations like Rinse Fm, BBC Radio 6, Red Light Radio and Studio Brussel. He’s always on the lookout for new interesting music as well as ways to develop and express himself through his productions.
In addition, Moodprint devotes himself to finding ways to get his favorite music out in the open. During projects like his B-sides show on Mixcloud, Interviews and his two-monthly nights called Oddities, he invites guests like Le Motel, Shungu, Bisser, Dzia, John Gomez and Lefto to give an insight into their favorite tracks, spots and general inspirations. His musical backbone was shaped in various ways like playing guitar in a gospel church, his trip to Los Angeles or going to more beat-oriented nights under the large influence of the guys from Up High Collective.
His first EP – 2013’s Storyboard – was released by Tangram Records and followed by two other EP’s, several bootlegs, collabs with Yellowstraps, Elaquent, PhaRo, Le Motel, LTGL, Up High Collective and Brihang and a compilation album – ‘Moodprint’ – released by Los Angeles-based record label Cold Busted. In June 2014, Moodprint played on the first Boiler Room in Belgium together with the Tangram Records team thanks to the man Lefto. Because of his broad approach to music you can expect very eclectic dj-sets ranging from his love for hip hop and beats to his fondness for electronic music, soul, funk and world music.
